Selectolyte, a dry powder, contains sodium, potassium and bicarbonate ions the key electrolytes in maintaining dietary electrolyte balance and maximum productivity. It aids recovery from stress and reinforces natural resistance to stress and disease.

It should be routinely used in stressful situations such as overheating, overcrowding and poor ventilation (e.g. when ammonia is present) at weaning, after moving or transporting animals (even or short distances) at de-beaking or vaccination during and after scouring when antibiotics and or sulpha drugs are being administered, when there is a shortage of feeders and waterers, when parasites and pests are present, during and after injury or convalescence. It is an essential aid in the treatment of Uraemia and bacterial diseases.

It is recommended for the restoration and maintenance of dietary electrolyte balance in animals which are affected by environmental stress from whatever cause. Environmental stress includes hot, or hot and humid days, or when animals and poultry are reared in artificially heated sheds and frequently subjected to an environmental temperature and relative humidity higher than their 'zone of comfort'. This results in loss of appetite, excessive loss of key electrolytes in the urine and loss of homeostatis (dietary electrolyte balance).
