Sectional Garage Doors

Technical Specifications of Raynor Garage Doors

1. Doors and Sections

All Raynor residential sectional garage doors are made of Gauge 26 hot-dipped galvanized steel skin sections and finished with an epoxy primer and baked-on polyester finish to resist rust and impact. The door sections are suitably embossed with raised-panel design and use either an emulated stucco-cement surface or a rough-sawn wood grain finish. The standard color finish is white, with the option for house paint lay-over. The sections are joined together by a waterproof tongue and groove joint at the meeting end stiles. Residential sectional garage doors are available in widths of 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18 and 20 feet and come in standard heights of 7 feet (2.13 m.) and 8 feet (2.43 m.)

2.Guides

The guide material is composed of heavy-gauge hot-dipped galvanized steel with a 12-inch curve radius at the top angle which extends horizontally to the back room of the garage. The guides may be supported by perforated steel angles or structures that should maintain rigidity and stability.

3. Counterbalance

The pipe shaft is the principal supporting member of the counterbalance mechanism roller, which holds the counterbalance spring. The pipe shaft is designed to carry the torsional load of the garage door coming from the cable pulleys. It is carried by supporting end angles and rotates around permanently lubricated ball bearings at both ends. Helical torsion spring counterbalances are designed to include a 25% safety overload factor. Counterbalance springs are standard in all Raynor garage door systems.

4.Motor - Operator

Motors are 24 Volt Direct Current Type for residential applications. These are electronically-controlled for programmed operation and have built-in electromagnetic relays for power control. A manual release cord tagged for safety is provided to open the door during power failure or emergency situations. A manual switch is also conveniently mounted near the door opening to assure safety while opening or closing the door.

5. Brackets and Guides

Heavy gauge steel brackets support and maintain the spring counterbalance assembly at either end. The unit is pre-punched for easy installation of fasteners.

6. Bottom Astragal

A heavy vinyl astragal is used for standard installation and for situations that have highly uneven floor lines that necessitate a flexible astragal.
